Personal Development in Parenthood, The Power of Starting Something Stupid GIVEAWAY!

Personal Development Reading from Travel Parent Eat

Welcome to our first Personal Development post of many. This is a subject that, as a mother I am extremely passionate about. Until recently, I wasn’t ever really into “self-help” books. I had written them off as some nice general suggestions, but not anything that could really help me in my life. I mean, come on! I have 4 kids! How am I supposed to find time to read boring non-fiction books?

If I had the time, I’d rather escape into my silent world of fictional teen vampire/ware-wolf romance (don’t judge me)! The last thing I wanted was for someone to tell me how I was screwing up my life, my kids, my marriage and how I was supposed to turn this all around and become a perfect human being. I never wanted the guilt associated with these books.

Then a dear friend highly recommended a personal development book called The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson . I’ll be honest, I kind of thought it was a thriller. I bought it and started reading. Wow! Um, NOT a thriller, but it seriously changed my life. In The Slight Edge Jeff explains that you can gain success and advantage in life by “the slight edge” which basically just means that you do LITTLE things EVERY DAY that add up to BIG results. He recommends reading 10 pages of a GOOD BOOK (usually a personal development book) EVERY DAY! That’s super easy right?

The choices we make every minute of every day add up to our entire life. I want to make each of those minutes count. I can totally handle reading 10 pages of a “good book” every day.

So I’m committing this year to reading 10 pages of a good book every day and here is the book I am starting with. I hope you will join me!

What better way to START off the year than with The Power of Starting Something Stupid by Richie Norton?

We knew Richie back in the day when we were kids growing up in small-town Ramona, CA. Richie was one of those kids you know in high school that is just genuinely, sincerely NICE to everyone. He was cool as a kid and he’s even more awesome as an adult. And awesome people write great books right? He has an amazing life story and has so much insight to share with the world. You can read his full bio here.

STUPID is the new SMART. Haven’t you heard?
