I received a complimentary bottle of peppermint oil from Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
Has your family been hit with that nasty flu/cold bug this year? It’s come through our house with a vengeance. I’m tired of being sick and tired. I was fortunate enough to receive a bottle of peppermint oil from Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals. It has helped our household in numerous ways, so I want to share some of these great uses in case you’ve had the misfortune of dealing with the winter sickies.
I don’t know if the doTerra wagon has rolled through your neighborhood, but it’s been through mine a few times. I kept making excuses not to jump on that band wagon, until I had had enough of the yuckies in our house and decided to try something I could use for the whole family.
My two-year-old has a slightly weaker immune system (a story for another day) but he still can’t use cough or cold medicines. I finally went to a meeting and learned about all the great uses of peppermint oil. Shortly thereafter I received this bottle, and started to get to work.
One of the best ways to help a small child with congestion is through a steamy bathroom.
The steam by itself helps clear the airways so they can breathe easier. But why stop there? I found this great, and simple recipe for shower soothers from Being Frugal by Choice that you can use your own essential oils blend.
Start by mixing 1/2 c cornstarch, and 1 1/2 c baking soda. Sift these two ingredients together then begin adding 1 tablespoon of water at a time until you have a thick, but smooth paste.
Spoon the paste into the cupcake liners in the cupcake pan.
You can bake them at 300 for about 15-20 (until dry) or leave on the counter to dry overnight.
Once the patties are dry, drop about 10 drops on the top of the disk. You can use any combination of oils you would like. Peppermint is great for clearing congestion. Eucalyptus also works well.
Use these disks with lavender and chamomile for a calming shower before bedtime.
To help with even more congestion relief, try adding just a couple of drops of peppermint essential oil in the humidifier. Or you could use your diffuser, if you’ve purchased one. I don’t have an actual diffuser, but my humidifier has a spot to add little cotton tabs that I can add my oil to. Maybe you’ve already thought about diffusing peppermint oil, but it was new to me.
1 c natural brown sugar
1/2 c coconut sugar
1/2 c cane turbinado sugar
2/3 c coconut oil
4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
20 drops peppermint essential oil
Glass container with lid for storing
*I use the natural brown sugar, coconut sugar, and cane turbinado sugar for the larger crystals. It makes for a better sugar scrub, but feel free to use what you have on hand.
Combine all 3 sugars and cocoa powder. Blend in the coconut oil. Add the peppermint essential oil. Stir until well combined. Spoon into a glass jar. I bought the tiny jelly jars so I could give some of this awesome sugar scrub away for Galentine’s day.
Well, now that you know all about the importance and uses of peppermint oil. I want to share my experience with the Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals oil.
There are so many different manufacturers of essential oil out there. Oils are considered a supplement and thereby not regulated by the FDA. That means manufacturers can use any process they want to create the oil. This can be good and bad. Good because the manufacturers are able to blend their products as they see the need (like the doTerra blended oils), but bad because not all processes are created equal.
I was a little concerned when I first read the instructions on the Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals oil. It clearly states that it is for external use only. Then further on down the label it states peppermint oil is great for adding flavor to food. It seems a bit contradictory to me. I found all these other great uses for peppermint oil online, and obviously peppermint oil doesn’t have to be used just for food.
The label for Majestic Pure Cosmeceuticals also states 100% pure and natural peppermint oil, as well as a Therapeutic Grade. It is a high quality oil, and has a great price point.
I did conduct a smell test comparing the Majestic Pure and a bottle of doTerra Peppermint oil. The doTerra is a much sweeter smell. I don’t really know much about the process of creating an essential oil, and I don’t sell doTerra or any other type of essential oil. I’m just sharing my honest opinion of the oil I received.
What brand of essential oil do you prefer? What do you use peppermint oil for? I’d love to learn more about this natural way to help our families and our homes.
